About the Event
The Smoothballer Classic Basketball Tournament began in 2013 to honor our late brother, friend, father, cousin, & teammate - Franklin L. Trapp, Jr aka Trapp #44, who gained his wings September 16th, 2012. Born April 13th, 1991, we ball in April to celebrate his life🕊. This year we will hold the tournament at Western Harnett High School with the 6 team (12 players max) double elimination style.
The gym will open at 8am for a Captain's only meeting, with the first game starting at 9am. There will be intermissions, contests (dunk and half-court shot), open gym time, 50/50 raffles, and a small business marketplace.
So grease up those knees and ankles and start practicing! Round up your family and friends & let's see which team takes home the trophy this year! All proceeds will go toward Franklin's two children, Kylaina and Trey's college fund.
The rules and bracket will be available and posted in the files on the Facebook page. We are currently recruiting teams, players, an Emcee, referees and volunteers, so spread the word. As always, this is a community event and we want everyone involved! If you have items to donate for our raffle, own a small business and you'd like to set up as a vendor to showcase your products, or you just want to help out, please email shanelle@freetruthmvmt.com and get the appropriate ticket below and we'll contact you.
