​Born and raised in North Carolina, Shanelle moved to DC right after college to participate in an Americorps program. After spending 5 years working in D.C.'s lowest 40 performing schools, Shanelle quickly learned something she's always known--that education really is the key to success. Currently, traditional education can seem like an outdated, oppressive regime. FreeTruth fills that gap to help educate you about things they fail to teach us in school.

That's why she founded FreeTruth Financial -- To create an alternative, safe space to learn about the one taboo factor that seems to control our lives. Money. It affects us mentally, physically, and emotionally. It also causes hella stress, and breaks up relationships.  As she tried to find the most critical, high-impact issue to address, she found that it all stems from a lack of education and access to money.  Ultimately, the Black community needs to partake in business ownership. THEY don't want really want you to understand the stock market, insurance, REITS, Capital Gains, how to assess risk and so MUCH MORE.

That's where she comes in. Shanelle has over 10 years in leadership development, coaching, and curriculum planning. She has provided personal and personal development coaching for over 100 clients, designed and led over 50+ workshops and seminars, and curated her own signature educational programs in the k-12 space. 

in 2012, Shanelle earned her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Social and Economic Justice from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Educational Transformation (advocacy and policy track) at Georgetown University C/O '21.  She plans to obtain her real estate license, life coaching certification, and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology to conduct research on social impact and civic engagement in communities of color.
